  (Sacramental Bread) First Holy Communion The Holy Communion is when a person first receives the Eucharist. It is considered one of the most holy occasions in a Catholic person's life. It is the first time that a person receives the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, which is the eating of consecrated bread and drinking of consecrated wine. Eucharist Is the sacrament that finalizes the sacraments of initiation and is when one can participate fully in the Eucharist by receiving Holy Communion. It serves as an act of spiritual thanks and is considered the most important sacrament of Catholic life. The ceremony involves the blessing and consuming bread and wine, which embody the body and blood of Christ. It is also known as the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Importance of the Eucharist All Christians would agree that it is a memorial action in which, by eating bread and drinking wine, the church recalls what Jesus Christ was, said, and did.   (Anointing of the Oil) Confirmation Is the second of the three sacraments of Christian initiation. Confirmation completes Baptism, by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, we are confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We are reminded and called to participate in the ministry and mission of Jesus and strengthened to follow Jesus more closely. Confirmation exhibits growth and learning within the Catholic faith and signifies a “sealing” of an individual’s connection to the church. Importance of Confirmation Confirmation calls us to be a missionary witness of Christ in our family, society and the world which deepens our new life. Through Confirmation, a persons relationship with Christ is reinforced. We receive the message of faith in a deeper manner with more emphasis given to the  person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service. (Pouring water over the infants head) Baptism It is the first of the three sacraments of initiation. We are incorporated into the body of Christ through it.  Baptism marks initiation into the Catholic church.  It is celebrated by immersion or pouring water on the head with the words said,   “I baptize you in the name of the Father,  and of the Son,  and of the Holy Spirit”    The Importance of Baptism New life - Baptism gives us a new life.  Baptism is commanded by Jesus in the Gospels and practiced by the early church as we read the New Testament. Teaching us that being baptized and enjoying its blessings is part of being Christian.   Baptism symbolizes that just as Christ died and was buried, and rose again. We are submerged (either physical or symbolical) underwater and rise again. Being underwater symbolizes the old life with sins and coming out of the water, is our new life with a purpose. Blessings - forgiveness of sins, faith in our Savior, and eternal life in heaven. God holds
